Networks are constantly putting out new shows and movies to entertain children. A lot of the time, the characters in these plots can have an effect on kids, as children strive to mimic actions and mannerisms displayed by their favorite figures. Since kids are so easily influenced, parents should encourage their children to view programs and movies that provide valuable lessons and educational material. A few TV shows and movies that are favorites of young people everywhere include:
1. 'Sesame Street'
This is a classic kid's show that never gets old. From Big Bird to Elmo, kindergartners everywhere have a fun time learning new numbers, words and colors as the characters visit friends and neighbors. Along with instructing children in basic education, the show also demonstrates the importance of friendship.
2. 'The Magic School Bus'
Originally a '90s program, "The Magic School Bus" is still captivating kids today through reruns and Netflix. Let young minds explore the world of science with Ms. Frizzle and her class as they learn about the solar system, the food chain, chemistry and more.
3. 'Phineas and Ferb'
This show follows two brothers as they come up with brilliant ideas and activities to pass the summer days. From making robots to flying spaceships, Phineas and Ferb show kids how to be creative and use their skills to come up with something new. If these brothers took an IQ test, their scores would be off the charts. Paste also notes that this program promotes sibling camaraderie, even through Candace's attempts to show their mother what the boys are up to.
4. 'Inside Out'
Parents will enjoy watching this movie almost as much as their kids. "Inside Out" is about the life of a little girl who is uprooted and moved to a new, big city. The story is told from the point of view of her emotions as the young girl tries to adjust to her new life. This storyline is beneficial to children who may not understand the different feelings a person can experience.
5. 'Toy Story' (1, 2 & 3)
Disney classics, these movies will help teach kids the importance of friendship and learning to share. Once children start to get a little older and begin to outgrow their toys, the third movie in the series will be beneficial when deciding to give favorite playthings away to a new child who will love the objects just as much.
6. 'Akeelah and the Bee'
This movie will motivate children to improve their vocabularies as they follow along with Akeelah as she strives to win the national spelling bee. Make this movie even more educational by looking up the words that the contestants have to spell. Kids might be surprised that pulchritude is another word for beauty.
