According to the Chesham Examiner, Stephen Hawking and Bill Gates both have an IQ of 160 – the same as Albert Einstein. Now, at just 12 years old, Amri Shakir has surpassed them all with an IQ of 162.
Amri’s parents were aware of his talents, but had no idea how high his IQ actually was. At their urging, the young student took a Mensa IQ test, which revealed a score of 162. Amri and his parents were naturally surprised.
"I was quite happy and excited," Amri told the news source. "I wasn’t expecting it. It was a bit of a shock. The test was reasonably hard, harder than I thought."
A high IQ score is far from Amri’s only accomplishment. He received an academic scholarship to The Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School in the U.K., and is also an accomplished guitar, piano and cricket player.
According to British Mensa’s website, a percentile score of 99 percent means that test takers are in the top 1 percent of the population, which Amri was found to be. Overall, British Mensa is open to anyone who has an IQ in the top 2 percent of the population.
If parents feel the same way Amri’s parents did, they may want to have their children take an IQ test for kids to see how gifted they actually are.
